Winners Announced for 2017 Corrosion Innovation of the Year Awards

Winners were presented with trophies at CORROSION 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Thomas Edison said, “There’s a way to do it better—find it.” Cutting-edge ideas, innovation, and progress are the cornerstones of successfully mitigating corrosion, and Materials Performance magazine invited corrosion control professionals worldwide to nominate the technologies that are on the forefront of the war against corrosion.

From the 44 nominations submitted, the 10 highest-rated innovations, judged by a distinguished panel of corrosion experts, were recognized by NACE President Sandy Williamson this week at CORROSION 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The hard work and commitment to the development of corrosion mitigation solutions by the recipients of the 2017 Corrosion Innovation of the Year Awards are an important contribution to corrosion control and the protection of vital assets from its damaging effects.

Winning innovations include a single-component epoxy; a computer-assisted, dry film thickness (DFT) measurement drone; galvanic corrosion risk protection software; a test point surveyor; a micro data logger; an in-line corrosion detector; a field-gradient sensor (FiGS); a microbial instant checking device; a sensor suite for aircraft corrosion monitoring; and a soluble salt profiler.
