U.S. DoD Sponsors 2017 Technical Corrosion Conference

Registration is now open for the 2017 Department of Defense—Allied Nations Technical Corrosion Conference, to be held from August 7-10, 2017, in Birmingham, Alabama.

The conference, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) (Arlington, Virginia), is a premier venue for exchanging knowledge and crafting new ways of combating corrosion in U.S. military infrastructure and material, according to event organizers. Members of the military, government, industry, academia, and students are all encouraged to attend.

The deadline for technical session draft papers is May 1, 2017, while the deadline to submit student poster session abstracts is June 9, 2017.

Technical subjects to be discussed at the conference include corrosion management, corrosion prevention and control strategies, technology transitions and evaluations, corrosion modeling, corrosion fundamentals, corrosion inhibitors, accelerated and outdoor exposure testing, corrosion monitoring and assessment, corrosion sensors, paints and coatings primers, paints and coatings systems, specialty coatings, surface preparation and pretreatments, corrosion resistant materials, materials for facilities and infrastructures, protective treatments and coatings, and student research.

The DoD Corrosion Forum 45 will be held in conjunction with the conference on Monday, August 7. This forum is open to government personnel and government support contractor personnel, as well as industry and academic experts.
