Corrosion specialist Presserv Group (Stavanger, Norway) announced at the 2017 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas, that it created seven new positions across its operations in the United Kingdom, Norway, and Singapore.

Brian Reid will join the company in May in the role of operations manager at its Aberdeen office in Scotland. A 30-year veteran of the fabric maintenance industry, Reid previously worked for Wood Group (Aberdeen, United Kingdom) and Shell (The Hague, The Netherlands). In his new position, Reid will work within the company to support business growth.

Other new U.K. positions include a field supervisor based out of Aberdeen and a business development executive in the Central Belt region of Scotland. Meanwhile, operations managers and sales staff will join the company’s Norway and Singapore teams.

These new positions will strengthen the group’s operations and allow it to increase its workload in the preservation sector, according to the company, all while expanding further into corrosion control, aboveground storage tank (AST) preservation, and the preservation management of floating, production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) units.

In addition to the new hires, the company says it recently secured a £1.5-million ($1.93-million) contract from a Norwegian operator for corrosion control services on platform risers.

“Despite a difficult economic climate for many, the last year has been strong in the U.K.,” says managing director Allan Durham. “Following the launch of the Presserv Tank Brigade line in late 2016, which enabled us to offer AST corrosion solutions to a range of industries from energy to pharmaceuticals, this new contract has allowed us to expand even further.”

“No matter how volatile the market, there is always a need for corrosion prevention,” Durham adds. “By properly corrosion-proofing mobile drilling units, ASTs, and other assets, businesses are able to protect their investments, keeping production high and downtime to a minimum.”

The company says it designed worldwide preservation programs based on vapor-phase technology and dehumidification that will protect drill ships, semis, jack-ups, and vessels for extended periods wherever they are moored. These programs will also keep assets in a state of readiness, the company explains, with only minimum mechanical maintenance needed.
