NACE International to Host Concrete Service Life Extension Conference

NACE International, with support from the Association for Preservation Technology International (APT) (Springfield, Illinois), the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) (St. Paul, Minnesota), and the American Concrete Institute (ACI) (Farmington Hills, Michigan), is hosting the Concrete Service Life Extension Conference from June 27-29, 2017, at Columbia University (New York, New York).

According to event organizers, methods will be discussed to prevent the disintegrating and deteriorating of concrete across North American infrastructure. Corrosion of concrete affects key transportation infrastructure such as roadways and bridges, buildings, dams, pipelines, and ships.

At the conference, experts with knowledge in the fields of concrete repair and maintenance, design, inspection techniques, and materials science will convene to share best practices and new technology for repairing, protecting, and enhancing the service life of concrete.

This event includes both practical and technical tracks to bring together contractors, applicators, and inspectors with engineers, designers, and scientists. The three days of sessions will cover the subjects of corrosion prevention and maintenance in concrete structures, along with case studies involving concrete coatings application and performance.

Topics discussed by presenters will include service life assessments and an analysis of infrastructure; designing for resiliency and durability with concrete structures in urban areas; concrete repair challenges for critical infrastructure in service; corrosion mitigation strategies for reinforced concrete structures; and conservation and repair challenges for historic concrete structures.
