Distribution of Elastomeric Polyurethane Coatings Line Expands to Canada

Global paints and coatings company AkzoNobel (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) has extended the existing distribution agreement for its Polibrid coatings to now include Canada. The original worldwide distribution pact was crafted in 2016.

This expanded agreement will enable access to the coating range throughout North America as part of the company’s International brand portfolio of protective coatings and linings.

The range includes high-build, low-odor, two-component elastomeric polyurethane lining options designed to protect concrete and steel in severe immersion environments, according to the company. The line is free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

The company explains that fast curing, easy application, and flexible, crack-resistant properties make the range ideal for use in corrosive wastewater treatment, potable water, and other immersion applications such as penstocks, dam gates, manholes, and pipelines, where exposure to hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) is prevalent.

“We are delighted about the inclusion of Canada in our North American distribution, where Polibrid’s brand strength among the water and wastewater industry is already well established,” says Steve Feldman, business director for protective coatings in North America. “We will continue to support existing customers and grow our market share through technology advances and technical expertise that meets the complex requirements of this important market segment.”

The distribution agreement will include a commercial arrangement in which the company says it can bring the technology more easily and economically to applicators. In turn, this should provide more opportunities for owners to lower project costs.
