Networking, Technical Exchange at Regional NACE Corrosion Conferences

As part of its member-driven mission to protect people, assets, and the environment from the adverse effects of corrosion, NACE International is hosting conferences throughout the United States and Canada in 2018 to foster the exchange of knowledge regarding innovative new techniques and technologies to drive innovation in the corrosion industry.

These conferences are essential networking platforms, NACE explains, where attendees discover solutions to region-specific corrosion issues from local industry experts. The shows are planned and managed by the association’s member-led sections throughout North America.

“This show was a great way for my coworkers and me to share and compare what’s happening in this part of the world,” says one recent area conference attendee. “I got a lot out of the face-to-face meetings and technical sessions.”

Also on the event roster is Corrosion Technology Week, at which NACE members share expertise to develop and revise standards and reports aimed at driving industry and public safety. Events include:

NACE Central Area Conference

Hosted by NACE and the NACE Omaha Section, the 2018 Central Area Conference in Omaha, Nebraska, USA, will feature unique educational presentations, forums, and the latest advancements in corrosion products on the exhibit hall floor. Held from August 6-8, 2018, the technical program will encompass numerous topics including failure analysis, cathodic protection, coatings for above and below ground, designing for corrosion, operator qualification, and a review of fundamentals.

Corrosion Technology Week

Held in Houston, Texas, USA, from September 16-20, 2018, Corrosion Technology Week (CTW) is an annual “work week” for members of NACE’s technical committees. Sponsored by the Technical Coordination Committee, this event includes a series of meetings focused on methods of identifying, preventing, and combating corrosion problems across all major industries. Technical information exchanges enable committees to stay on the cutting edge of innovation and technology in the corrosion industry.

NACE Eastern Area Conference

Billions of dollars are spent each year on coatings and corrosion issues affecting bridges and highways, maritime assets, pipelines, and water tanks. To address this issue, NACE and the NACE Carolina Section are hosting the 2018 Eastern Area Conference in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA, from October 1-3, 2018. The conference is slated to feature unique educational presentations, forums, and the latest advancements in corrosion products on the exhibit hall floor.

NACE Northern Area Eastern Conference

Now accepting abstracts for presentations on various methods of corrosion control, this conference is organized by the NACE Atlantic Canada Section. Held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, from October 14-16, 2018, attendees will take in new corrosion technologies and equipment, along with educational presentations and forums discussing the unique corrosion challenges of the area, ranging from the U.S. New England region to Canada’s maritime provinces.

NACE Western Area Conference

From the corrosion-plagued port of Anchorage, Alaska, USA, to the recent findings that a massive southern California gas leak was caused by corrosion, it is more important than ever that corrosion professionals stay current with the latest industry developments. To that end, NACE and the NACE Puget Sound Section are accepting abstracts for presentations on topics related to corrosion in marine environments, corrosion control in the energy industry, durability of reinforced concrete structures, and more. This event will be held in Seattle, Washington, USA, from November 27-29, 2018.
