Bitrez Ltd. (Standish, United Kingdom), a global manufacturer of specialist polymers and chemicals, recently launched its Curabox line of flame-retardant benzoxazine thermoset resins.

These high-performance resins sport high-service temperatures, as well as the ability to endure mechanical and chemical attack. As a result, they can perform in difficult environments over long periods and are well suited for manufacturing long service composite compounds. Curabox resins can be used in a variety of applications, including primary and secondary structures for aerospace, and the external components of vehicles such as cars, trucks, buses, and trains.

The creation of the Curabox line is the product of a partnership between Bitrez and a leading European materials and development researcher to explore the potential applications of benzoxazine, a thermosetting resin suitable for high-temperature uses.

Dominic Hopwood, Bitrez’s composites resin sales manager, expressed optimism that the Curabox line will be able to service customers both now and in the future.

“We hope to be in a position, in the next 12 months, to add further grades to the Curabox family which will bring even more novel chemistry to composite applications,” says Hopwood.
