Full-Service Engineering Firm Expands Leadership Team

Dawson Bloom

Full-service engineering firm McLaren Engineering Group (Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, USA) is expanding its leadership team with the additions of Dawson Bloom as civil technical director and Michelle Piechowski as senior vice president of human resources.

“We’re excited to welcome both of these professionals to the team,” says Malcolm McLaren, CEO of the company. “Dawson will be taking on key duties, including companywide oversight for the technical work product for the site civil team and expanding this team across all markets. Michelle will help us move forward with the next phase of our expansion as we create scalable systems for growth.”

According to the group, Bloom has over 25 years of experience managing complex, multidisciplinary teams of design professionals and overseeing civil engineering projects across the tri-state area. His specialties include transportation planning and design, site development, utility and infrastructure design, urban planning and design, municipal engineering, construction management, and more.

Prior to joining the company, Bloom managed significant projects throughout New Jersey, including Newark’s Broad Street’s Station Plaza, the Edgewater Marina Park and Ferry Landing, and the Clinton Street Streetscape in Newark. Bloom holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (Newark, New Jersey, USA), where he also served as an adjunct professor of civil engineering.

Meanwhile, Piechowski is an accomplished human resources executive who has experience building teams and leading organizational matters within both public and privately held companies.

Prior to her current role, Piechowski was the vice president of global human resources (HR) for The Topps Co. (New York, New York, USA). In that role, she built and led an HR operation for the 500-employee organization, including planning, benefits, and global talent acquisition. Piechowski was a strategic partner to business leaders on organizational, developmental, and personnel matters.

The new hires come amid ongoing growth for McLaren. The firm recently cut the ribbon on its new Woodcliff Lake corporate office, which has a capacity for over 250 employees. With a current staff there of over 130, the company says it will be hiring a variety of professionals—ranging from senior-level to administrative positions—in the coming months.
