Asset Services Company Acquires Technical Corrosion Consultant

Asset services company KTA-Tator, Inc. (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA) announced the signing of a purchase agreement with technical consulting services provider Elzly Technology Corp. (Reston, Virginia, USA). The merger will add Elzly’s coatings, corrosion engineering, and cathodic protection (CP) services to KTA’s existing asset protection services.

The newly acquired company will operate as an independent subsidiary from its offices in Reston; Vineland, New Jersey, USA; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. The senior management teams of both firms believe the combined expertise will provide added benefits to current and perspective clients.

“KTA has traditionally looked to prevent corrosion though its third-party quality assurance services and high-level consulting and laboratory expertise in protective coatings,” says Dan Adley, CEO of KTA. “Elzly’s engineers consider material selection, system design, and CP as added means of mitigation. Our clients asked that we expand in these areas, and we listened. Combined, we offer clients a holistic approach to asset integrity.”

The portfolio of capabilities is aligned and complementary. Moving forward, the two companies plan to offer more of an integrated approach to the industry and better serve the transportation, defense, maritime, and oil and gas markets.

In addition to technical alignment of service offerings, the two companies say they have similar work environments, making for a smoother transition.

“Jim Ellor, Pete Ault, and John Repp, the principals of Elzly, reflect and have the same type of values that we hold dear,” Adley says. The entire Elzly team will work well in the participative environment that we use to develop strategy.”

The other ownership team echoes those comments.

“Like Elzly, KTA places a strong emphasis on their employees and is a recognized leader in the corrosion engineering field,” Ellor says. “The market diversity and physical infrastructure of KTA provides opportunities for our existing staff and broadens services that we can offer our customers. Over the last 12 years, we have developed a strong working relationship with KTA on various projects.”
