PPG Appoints Vice President of Global Operations for Industrial

Robert King. Photo courtesy of PPG.Protective coatings and specialty materials company PPG (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA) announced the appointment of Robert King as vice president of global operations for the group’s industrial segment, effective December 9, 2019.

Reporting to Rebecca Liebert, executive vice president, King will be responsible for leading the company’s industrial segment global manufacturing, supply chain, engineering and asset management, and continuous improvement activities.

King was previously vice president of global supply chain at Nutrien (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada), a $12-billion agricultural products and services company. He was responsible for manufacturing, environmental health and safety, integrated business planning, transportation, distribution and logistics, indirect procurement, and fleet operations. Most recently, King led an enterprise SAP implementation for the business.

Prior to this role, King led Nutrien’s business-to-consumer retail distribution business, including 1,500 employees and 120 retail centers. He joined Agrium (rebranded as Nutrien following a merger) in 2012 as vice president of nitrogen operations and services.

King spent the first 18 years of his career at specialty materials company Celanese (Irving, Texas, USA), beginning as an engineer and progressing through supply chain and manufacturing leadership roles. These included assignments in the United Kingdom and China. During this time, King was the general manager for the company’s site in Nanjing, China, which is its largest multi-business manufacturing complex.
