Sigma Labs Names New Executive Chairman

Sigma Labs (Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA), a developer of quality control software for the commercial 3D printing and additive manufacturing industries, announced the appointment of Mark K. Ruport as its executive chairman. This appointment became effective on December 3.

Ruport is an accomplished software industry executive with over 30 years of experience working for public and private software companies. In his new role as executive chairman, Ruport contributes a history of building companies through strategic relationships, innovative sales strategies, and focused management.

“The ability to have an immediate, tangible impact on Sigma Labs with the apparent adoption of its incredible technology in the marketplace is a unique and exciting opportunity,” says Ruport, who, in addition to his role as executive chairman will also sit on the company’s board of directors.

Before joining Sigma Labs, Ruport served as executive chairman of analytics software firm Content Analyst Company (Reston, Virginia, USA), and president and chief operating officer for enterprise systems management company Configuresoft, now owned by Dell EMC (Hopkington, Massachusetts, USA). Ruport, who also held leadership positions with Optika and Interleaf, holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and a M.B.A. from Bowling Green State University (Bowling Green, Ohio, USA).

“As evidenced by the recent progress with OEMs [original equipment manufacturers], end users and additive manufacturing integrators, our business is now at an inflection point that requires an industry veteran to amplify our success and accelerate our market penetration alongside strategic partners with a keen interest in our technology,” says Sigma Labs’ Chief Executive Officer John Rice, who will be working with Ruport to leverage the company’s market momentum, accelerate growth, and increase shareholder value.

“Mr. Ruport’s long history of taking companies through various stages of growth will be invaluable as we enter the next phase of our growth cycle,” adds Rice. “We believe there is significant potential for shareholder value creation and look forward to unlocking this for our shareholders under Mark's leadership.”

“My focus will be on accelerating our commercial adoption with strategic partners and amplifying the recent success John and his team have achieved,” says Ruport. “This blueprint is something I am very familiar with given my experience with disruptive companies in the software sector and I look forward to working with the entire team at Sigma Labs to drive forward its strategic initiatives.”
