Peerless Plastics & Coatings Ltd. (Thetford, Norfolk, England) announced that it acquired coatings firm RS Coatings Ltd. (Lichfield, Staffordshire, England) at the end of March.

RS Coatings specializes in the application of coatings solutions for the protection and decoration of plastic and metallic components. The company began operations in 1999 offering the spraying of conductive coatings as a preferred shielding solution for manufacturers of electronic products. Additional operations and processes that have subsequently been developed include aesthetic applications for product enhancement, hard-coat and scratch-resistant lacquers, pad and digital printing, CNC machining, plastic injection molding, and secondary operations.

RS Coatings’ comprehensive facilities include the following:

  • Spray painting for conductive and cosmetic applications
  • Automated hard-coat plant
  • Design and manufacture of distinct and reliable paint masking tools and jigs
  • Plastic injection molding machines ranging up to 240 metric tons (529, 109 lbs)
  • CNC machining and fabrication
  • Modeling and prototyping
  • Digital printing
  • Multi-station and multi-color PAD printing facilities
  • In-house tool room to manufacture and maintain tooling
  • CAD and technical support from initial design to volume production

As a result of this acquisition, the combined companies offer more than 50 years of experience in the coatings industry, including a list of services that deliver a full-service experience that saves costs and helps lower carbon footprints across a variety of projects.

“We plan to build upon the excellent work RS Coatings have done over many years offering ingenious solutions for a wide range of technical challenges in many industries,” says Peter Llewellyn-Stamp, managing director for Peerless Plastics & Coatings. “With the full range of capabilities the Peerless/RS Group will possess, we will be perfectly placed to continue servicing plastic sheet extruders, automotive, EV, rail, medical, retail, and construction sectors and expand this offering of services into new areas of industry.”

Llewellyn-Stamp adds that the RS Coatings acquisition furthers the company’s growth strategy to provide customers with quality service and sustainable plastic solutions.

Laurie Richardson and Miren Santamaria of RS Coatings will continue to work with the Peerless/RS Coatings Group, focusing on R&D, business development, and technical advisory services.

“The addition of Laurie, Miren, and the team at RS Coatings brings many years of engineering expertise to the Peerless Group and will service to strengthen the offering to our customers,” says Llewellyn-Stamp.
