Leadership Diversity, Collaboration Workshop Planned for CORROSION 2017

NACE International, The Worldwide Corrosion Authority, is unveiling an expanded workshop aimed at promoting leadership diversity and collaboration at itsCORROSION conference and exhibition in New Orleans, Louisiana. The event will be held on March 30, 2017.

Sponsored by BP (London, United Kingdom), the workshop—titled “Encouraging Diversity and Collaboration in Leadership”—is described as an interactive workshop designed to demonstrate the new culture of successful leaders.

Key highlights for attendees will include examples of how diversity increases team performance; strategies for leading successful collaboration efforts, and how to go from words to actions; and how to strengthen individual growth strategies by emphasizing diversity and collaboration.

“For over a decade, CORROSION attendees have benefited from Women in Corrosion luncheon,” organizers of the annual conference explain. “Last year, we expanded the luncheon to a half-day workshop.”

“After recognizing the 2016 workshop’s high level of audience participation and the industry’s need for even greater diversity and inclusiveness, this annual networking event has evolved for 2017.”

Karen Dawson, an executive coach and organizational change consultant at Deeper Funner Change (Portland, Oregon), led the 2016 workshop — and based on positive feedback, she will return to head this year’s event.

In the forum, Dawson plans to engage participants of all backgrounds on ways to advocate for diversity in the field, laboratory, or office, according to event organizers.
