New Online Manuscript Tracking System Launched for Materials Performance

A new electronic manuscript tracking system is now in place for authors to upload their technical papers for potential publication in Materials Performance (MP) magazine. The system will also enable authors to track the ongoing manuscript submittal and publication process.

Launched on March 29, 2017, the objective of the new system is to create a better paper submittal process for NACE International members, customers, and the MP editorial staff. The objective is to contribute to a better product for readers in terms of unique and quality technical content from corrosion professionals. Papers submitted through the previous paper-tracking system are being retained for publication consideration.

Modifications to the MP web site for accessing the new ScholarOne system have been made, including the creation of a new submission page.

To use the system, authors need to register for a new account at the web site and log in. From there, authors can click the “start new submission” field on the dashboard, and a seven-step process begins, which includes adding the article title and abstract; selecting keywords from a system-generated list; entering biographical information for all authors and institutions; suggesting reviewers for the paper; entering manuscript details; including an optional cover letter; uploading all files, including the paper itself, any graphics, author biographies, and copyright forms; and a verification review and formal submittal.

Once the final step is complete, users will receive a submission confirmation via their browser screen and an email—and the review process will begin thereafter.
