Specific Technology Group Formed for Mining, Mineral Processing Corrosion

The Technical Coordination Committee (TCC) at NACE International recently announced that Specific Technology Group (STG) 47, Corrosion in Mining and Mineral Processing, is currently accepting members.

The endeavor was spearheaded earlier this year at the CORROSION 2017 conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, by NACE member Zoe Coull, founder and corrosion specialist at Ice Dragon Corrosion (Toronto, Ontario, Canada). After that, several planning meetings were held to lay the groundwork for the creation of the new group representing the mining and mineral processing industry.

This is NACE's first new STG in years, and technical committee members are committed to working with corrosion experts in the mining industry regarding corrosion issues.

Anyone interested in becoming a member can go to www.nace.org/jointcc and click on “TCC Officers and Directory,” navigate to STG 47, and then click the “Join this Committee” button.

Interested parties can also join current committee members at the CORROSION 2018 conference in Phoenix, Arizona, which takes place next year from April 15-19. The STG will meet during that week.

The events calendar on the NACE website will be updated with further meeting details, as applicable.
