ACI Transitions to Virtual Conference

The American Concrete Institute (ACI) (Farmington Hills, Michigan, USA) announced the formation of ACI Virtual Committee Days, an initiative designed to replace the cancelled ACI Concrete Conference. Scheduled for March 28–April 2, 2020, the ACI Virtual Committee Days will allow the institute’s technical work to proceed.

According to ACI, its partnership with committee chairs has provided the necessary technological and logistical assistance to hold virtual meetings on the same day and time zone (i.e., Central Daylight Time) as the originally scheduled conference in Rosemont/Chicago.

As with its ACI Concrete Conference, ACI Virtual Committee Days are open and free-of-charge for committee members, students, and guests. While the virtual conference will not have an exhibition, the institute encourages attendees to support the companies that had planned to exhibit at the convention.

“While we are saddened to have cancelled the ACI Concrete Convention, we are pleased that so many committees remain eager to keep the critical work of the Institute moving forward,” says Ronald G. Burg, ACI’s executive vice president. “Additionally, this virtual format provides the opportunity for greater meeting participation from students, guests, and other interested professionals in the industry who may not have been planning to attend the convention.”
