Pier Solutions (Kintore, United Kingdom), a leading engineering and modular solutions provider, has announced strategic appointments to strengthen its leadership team. These include a new chief executive officer (CEO) and finance director (FD), as the group targets growth in the energy sector.

Jordan Ferguson is now CEO after serving the role on an interim basis from late 2023. His experience in commercial roles spans positions at Valor Energy Group, Hutcheon Mearns and H2scan, as well as running his own consultancy to support businesses with investment and strategic growth.

“I’m delighted to have joined Pier Solutions on a permanent basis to support the existing team as we focus on an exciting and busy 2024,” Ferguson says. “The heritage of the business and the expertise of the team is impressive, and I’m excited to harness the knowledge we have as we expand and grow.

Meanwhile, Doug Gibb has joined as finance director after registering more than 10 years of experience in senior finance positions. Gibb previously worked alongside Ferguson as part of their consultancy offering while also supporting several subject matter experts through periods of significant growth in the energy industry, both domestically and internationally.

According to the company, Ferguson and Gibb are joining members of the original management team who were also recently promoted, along with a wider team of 22 staff.  Plans are in place to recruit additional staff in the coming months to support the business in delivering the new strategy.

The new leadership team was put together to be the driving force behind a growing business offering the in-house design, manufacturing, and build of bespoke modular solutions for the energy sector. With workshops in Aberdeenshire and Dundee, the team has worked on bespoke projects from design to fabrication with a portfolio of clients servicing battery energy storage systems (BESS), hydrogen projects, and Clima-tech clients across the energy transition sector.

“Doug, the wider team, and I all have strong ambitions for the business that will utilize the range of our in-house design, manufacturing, and fabrication capabilities,” Ferguson adds.

“The opportunities in the energy sector including hydrogen, BESS, offshore wind, and carbon capture are huge, and we have provided a number of solutions for our clients to date, in this space,” Ferguson concludes. “I am looking forward to growing the company with the fantastic team we have and looking ahead to entering new markets. We will now also be fully focused on bringing further investment into the business, as we deliver our strategic plan and wider support across all sectors.’’
